Dear Sculpture Club Kids,
This enormous amount of time (this weekend plus two days of spring break) we've spent apart, I realized we NEED a blog. What with Dao leaving us soon and Don's in Egypt! I mean, honestly, it's high time we start blogging. Now, I know what you're thinking... "Shouldn't you be working on your foot fetish website?" Yes. Yes, I should. And we all know Coleen is thinking, "Shouldn't you be working on your project?" And Dao is probably thinking "which restaurants do I need to hit up before I leave for Chicago and where can I find a cute wool beanie in California in the the springtime?" (Good Luck!). Anyways, the point is... I'm taking the time away from working on my sculpture (no, I'm not procrastinating, that's ridiculous) to make this blog because we all know each other so well and I think we have something special (as Ashton starts singing some cheesey love song from the 70's). We're a part of a group of people that are actually interested in each other's ideas and projects and because of that-- we have created a really great atmosphere for growing and sharing and learning... okay, now i'm making myself sick. Maybe I'm just on a sugar high from all those chocolate bunnies, but I think this blog could be nice, you know, if someone wants to share a link to a good website they found, or talk about a material they started using that they want to share, or Adam can post a youtube video, or Dao can post pictures of what she's working on in Chicago, or recipes, or people can post writing or whatever! ANyways, I just want you all to know that I'm so happy to be a part of the cool kids sculpture club at LBCC. I really appreciate the friendships I've made with you all and being a part of your art making process.
Much love and treats,
Mariah
PS I just re-read what I wrote and it's clear that I've got all of your voices stuck in my head... so even when I'm not working on something in class, I've got you in my head... for example: Adam is telling me to add eyes/goggles to the blog and Coleen is telling me to shut-up and get to work. And with that--off I go.
